URGENT: DEMAND THE WEALTHY PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE IN THIS YEAR'S BUDGET
Reports indicate that Governor Christie and Senate President Stephen Sweeney have struck a backroom deal on a tax scheme the state cannot afford and that asks absolutely nothing of the state's wealthiest residents. Passing a tax cut without a way to pay for it will lead to the same sort of job-killing cuts to transit, education, and other essential services that have weakened New Jersey's recovery.
HELP ELECT CANDIDATES WHO WILL STAND UP FOR REAL DEMOCRATIC VALUES!
Whether its tax cuts for the 1%, cutting funds for clean energy or attacking worker's rights, this Governor Christie has had the run of New Jersey for the last two years because a group of powerful Democratic Party bosses cut a deal with Christie. That’s why the NJ Working Families Alliance has joined forces with our affiliates like SEIU, HPAE, CWA and the New Jersey Environmental Federation, along with MoveOn.org and the NAACP-Irvington to run ordinary residents for Democratic Committee in Essex County. Our candidates, running on Line B as the Essex County Independent Democrats, are running as REAL Democrats who will stand up for ordinary residents on the issues that matter.
In the aftermath of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, unemployment is sky-high and poverty and crime are on the rise due to the short-sighted policies of elected officials in Trenton. Everywhere working families are paying more and getting less for it. New Jerseyans want bold leadership, but too often corruption seems more common than courage in our elected officials.
The New Jersey Working Families Alliance is fighting for justice and fairness in the Garden State. We’re a grassroots coalition representing workers, environmentalists, consumers and more that formed to advance a vision of a New Jersey that works for the people instead of the powerful.
We fight to hold politicians accountable on the issues that matter to working families – good public schools, affordable health care, and fair budget and taxes. Since our founding we’ve been on the front lines of the biggest fights in Trenton. We coordinate the Better Choices for New Jersey coalition that leads the fight against Governor Christie’s short-sighted approach of tax cuts for the rich and cuts to vital services like schools and public safety for everyone else. We’re also building grassroots power for working families by training a new generation of progressive leaders with community roots and the courage to stand up for the 99% here in New Jersey.
